Corrections

We publish our sources and our cost model in full precisely so they can be checked. If a figure looks wrong, we want to hear about it — getting the numbers right matters more to us than defending them.

What’s worth flagging

• A cost figure that’s well outside what you see on the ground in a specific metro.
• A climate, housing, or wage number that doesn’t match the underlying source.
• A state’s licensing or disclosure rules that have changed or that we’ve described incorrectly.
• A metro whose nearest weather station clearly doesn’t represent local conditions (for example, a mountain rain-shadow town).
• A typo, a broken link, or anything that reads as misleading.

How we handle it

Our cost model is versioned, and the version is stamped on every figure it produces. When a correction changes an assumption — a crew size, an hours estimate, a day rate — we update the model, re-run the affected markets, and the new version appears on the pages. Data corrections (a wage vintage, a regulation change) are refreshed against the source. We’ll tell you what we changed.

Use our contact page and choose “Data correction or methodology question.” The more specific you can be — the metro, the figure, and what you believe it should be — the faster we can check it against the source and fix it.

One thing we won’t do: quietly change a number to make a provider or an outcome look better. The model is the model, applied the same way to every market.
